Obituary of Laura May Eaton

Laura May (Payne) Eaton, 91, of Glenville, NY, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, December 19, 2016. The daughter of Mary Adams and James Dewitt Payne, she was born and raised in Newfield, NY. She moved to Glenville, NY in 2005 to live with her daughter, Kathleen and family. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Laura always put the needs of others above her own, especially in caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts for family members using her green Singer sewing machine that she purchased second-hand in the mid-1950’s. She also enjoyed listening to the radio, especially the New York Yankees, reading, caring for her pets, and backyard birding. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Paul Eaton, in 1984, her sisters Dortha Payne, Florence Payne, Arleta Smith, and Ethel Bishop as well as an infant brother, Kenneth. She is survived by, and was dearly loved by her children, Connie A. Eaton of Ithaca, NY, Stephen C. Eaton of Dewey, AZ, Wayne W. Eaton and Christopher K. Eaton both of Ithaca, NY, Lynn J. (Betsey) Eaton of Kingman AZ, and Kathleen (Patrick) Hartley of Glenville, NY. Laura was grandmother to Seth Eaton, April Eaton, Abigail Card, Phillip Eaton, Jennifer Eaton, Lucas Eaton, Lahja Sundquist, Dylan Eaton, Jethro Eaton, Shannon Baudoin-Rea, and Kelly Eaton. She was especially adored by and doted on by grandchildren Joshua, Kevin, and Kaleigh Drew, whom she cherished. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
