Obituary of Edward Joseph Korzeniewski

Edward Joseph Korzeniewski (“Eddie Kay”), 98, son of Andrew and Frances Korzeniewski. As a life-long Schenectadian, he attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. Edward was predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Marie Korzeniewski, his son Edward Korzeniewski and his sister Irene. He is survived by his sister Jane Dobies (Ben). He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Denise Aldrich Greene (Michael), Barbara Anderson (Mark) and Kim Olson (David), his son Kenneth Korzeniewski (Tony), his grandson Zachary Greene, and his granddaughters Alina and Maura Olson, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews. Edward, a World War II veteran, was a Bandsman and Red Cross Agent who served in Patton’s Third Army, Sixth Armored Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in connection with military operations in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany during the period of July 1944 to May 1945. After the war, Edward made his career in sales with the Ward Baking Company and later Freihofer’s. His avocation was music, second only to his love of family. He learned to play the violin as a child, but then turned to band, mastering the flute, clarinet and saxophone. He was an active member of the Albany Musician’s Union and a gifted tenor saxophone player with a variety of performing groups well into his 80s. When as a young child his grandson was asked what his grandpa played, his grandson responded, “he plays gigs.” A calling period will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, located at 9 Glenridge Road Glenville NY on Monday, January 2nd, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM.
