Lisa Frutchy

Obituary of Lisa F. Frutchy

Lisa is survived by her loving husband, William E Frutchy, Jr.; her sister, Linda Kenney (Malcolm) of Easton, Ma, and sisters-in-law Wende Frutchy Gray, Jennifer Frutchy Ford, Barbara Frutchy Senst, and Dr. Heidi Frutchy DeBlock, and several nieces and nephews, and was a great aunt. She was the daughter of the late Don and Rita Fudge. Lisa and Bill met in kindergarten, sixty years ago, at Hendy Avenue School in Elmira when they were five years old. Bill was invited to Lisa’s fifth birthday party, and he spied the sweetest and cutest girl whom he pursued until they married in 1979. Lisa was valedictorian of the class of 1969 at Elmira Free Academy, where she was a member of numerous clubs and a varsity cheerleader. She graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Williams College in 1973 (as part of the first graduating class of women) with a French major and Math minor. She earned a Masters degree in French at Middlebury College while spending a year at the Sorbonne. Following her academic pursuits, she taught French, Spanish, English and Math at the Buxton School in MA. After their marriage in 1979, Lisa began as a teller at Northeast Savings Bank of Schenectady and rose to Training Manager at Fleet, before moving to the First Teachers Federal Credit Union, retiring in 2013 as Training and Compliance Director. She was a member of Zonta and The Edison Club. Everyone adored Lisa whose talents were seemingly endless. She was cool before cool. She had a trampoline in her yard to practice agile stunts, and moved it inside her garage during the winter to continue flips and tricks. She studied ballet as a child, and participated in Mrs. Whittle’s Junior Assemblies, perfecting the art of ballroom dancing. It was here that Bill and Lisa also learned a good waltz, foxtrot, and lindy together. She learned to play golf, and if she wasn’t playing golf with Bill, she was omnipresent at every golf tournament Bill ever played in, rain or shine. Bill and Lisa traveled the world together over the years, and Lisa also found the time to make personal calendars for all her nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday , January 11, 11 am at The Glenville Funeral Home. A calling hour will procede the service at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, Maple Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302.
