Obituary of Jacob Paul Scheiner

Jacob Paul Scheiner, 92, passed away on his birthday, January 15, 2017 at the Baptist Health Center. Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Jacob and Barbara Scheiner. In June of 1943 he completed 3 years of High School. July 12,1943 enlisted in the USN Seabee’s 8th Battalion. He served active duty July 12, 1943 to March 18, 1946. Received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy March 19,1946. 1951 received the NYS Equivalency Diploma. Jacob worked at Grumman Aerospace Corporation on Long Island. Worked on various projects, including the Apollo Lunar Module, and the Grumman F-14 Tomcats. Also had a private single engine pilot’s license. Volunteered from 1956 to 1960 at the Custer Institute in Southold, Long Island. Jacob moved to Glenville in 2002 to be near his daughter Susan and her husband John of Alplaus. He enjoyed a lot of what Glenville had to offer, including the library, the Glenville Senior Center and the Glenville Queen Diner. Jacob is survived by five children, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his half-brother. Susan and John McLeod, would like to thank the Baptist Nursing for the care shown to him over the years. Also the Social Services, Activities and Business Office Departments for their support and help. They would also like to thank the Ellis Hospital ER and the Mohawk Ambulance for assisting Jacob when he needed it. Funeral Services with military honors will be held on Friday March 3, 2017 at 3:00pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
