Obituary of Virgina Lee VanPatten

Virginia Lee VanPatten, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Thursday January 26, 2017. Virginia was born in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Frank and Virginia (Sullivan) Coscino. She met and married Preston VanPatten in Chicago and they raised their family there until moving to upstate NY. Virginia continued to raise her children until she was offered a job at the Carl Co. to work in the housewares department until the store closed. She continued to raise children and grandchildren after leaving Carl Co. She enjoyed shopping, traveling in their RV, spending time at the racino and playing bingo and cards. Virginia is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Preston; her devoted children: Virginia Lee Newell, Charleen Blanchard, Lt. Commander John VanPatten, USN (Victoria), Sharon Page (Eric); grandchildren: Jennifer Newell, Tahnee and Travis Page, Forrest Blanchard, Morgan Bielawski, Benjamin and Lara VanPatten. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville on Sunday January 29 from 2-4 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 am at Our Lady of Grace Church, Midline Rd. Ballston Lake. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenridge Rd., Glenville.
