Obituary of Leland Scott

Leland F. Scott, "Lee", 83, of Alplaus, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2013 at his home in his beloved Alplaus, NY. Born on July 11, 1929 in the Carman section of Rotterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Glenn and May Rhines Scott. Lee graduated from Draper High School. He married his wife Ivy Mann Scott and just celebrated 60 years of marriage. The couple lived in Alplaus since 1958. Lee, also known as "Scottie" at his work, was employed out of the 109th Tactical Air Lift Base in Glenville as a National Guardsman for 36 years. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. He enjoyed deer hunting, baseball, skiing, fishing and crossword puzzles. He loved his Scottish family friends and neighbors and proud of his children's accomplishments. He was chosen Niskayuna Elk of the Year in '87-'88. Lee was predeceased by his brother Lloyd Scott and sister Doris Lockridge. Survivors include his beloved wife Ivy Scott, daughter, Iris E. Scott of Alplaus and son, Ken Scott (Greta) of Castleton, NY; grandchildren: Kelly Scott (Kris Tan), Aaron (Shelly) Scott, Leland Scott Goodrich and Ashley Goodrich. Lee leaves behind his brother Glenn Scott of Arizona and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Lee's life will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville with the Rev. Shelly Fayette presiding. Calling hours will precede the services on Wednesday at the Glenville Funeral Home from 11 AM to 1 PM. Committal services will be at the Gerald B.H. National Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leland F. Scott's name to the Schenectady Pipe Band Scholarship Fund, c/o Bill Munro, 40 Terrace Avenue, Albany NY 12206.
