Obituary of David Mercado

David Mercado, 57, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2017 after a short illness at St. Mary’s Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in New York City to Alejandro and Maria Teresa (Aponte) Mercado. His family moved to Schenectady, NY where David graduated from Linton High School in 1978. He was a loyal and steadfast employee, retiring from Tempur Sealy Industries in 2016 after a 31 year career. David was an avid reader and enjoyed historical texts and classical music. He also enjoyed participating in camping and hiking in the Adirondack Mountains. He was especially passionate about sports supporting his NY teams of the Yankees and Giants. David was known for being an extremely caring and big-hearted individual who was a loving son and brother, generous uncle and dedicated friend. Survivors include his brother, Ivan Mercado (Eunice), sisters, Elizabeth Thompson (William) and Caroline Mercado (Anthony Bonanno); nieces and nephews, Amber Mercado,, William Thompson, Courtney Vrabel, Roman Mercado Bonanno and Julien Mercado Bonanno; great nieces and nephews, Karalee Thompson, Mackenzie and Nora Vrabel. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31st at 12 PM at Glenville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at glenvillefuneralhome.com
