Obituary of Stephen P. Langkau

Stephen P. Langkau, 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home February 7, 2017. Steve was born in Cobleskill, NY on February 5, 1951, the son of the late Paul and Rosemary (Southwick) Langkau. He graduated Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School later receiving his associate's degree from SCCC. He married the former Darlene Marsolais on September 23, 1978. They raised a family in Burnt Hills. Steve worked as a LPN at Four Winds and later for the O. D. Heck Center for Disabilities. He loved bicycling and was well known for his long trips biking around his community. He especially treasured his time of teaching the sport to his son and his son's friends making sure they all had a properly working bicycle. many times he took riders to the Lehigh County Velodrome Bicycle Racetrack in Lehigh, PA. He also enjoyed skiing and listening to music of all types. A lifelong diabetic, he recently received the Joslin Award recognizing over 50 years of living with the illness. Steve was also predeceased by his sister Sharon Adams. Thank you to everyone who assisted caring for Steve at home especially his nieces Renee Marsolais and Melissa Eberhard who were always there to advocate and care for Steve. A special thanks to Dr. Richard Lavigne and Colleen Califano, R.N. for there many years of dependable care. Survived by his wife Darlene Langkau, son, Peter P. Langkau (Amanda), grandson Jacob Deiana-Langkau; brothers: Jeff (Jacqueline) and Phillip (Sonya) Langkau and his sister, Karen Swaim (Bruce). Steve leaves behind his "granddaughters" Kate and Amy Taylor, aunts and uncles and 14 nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 am from Our Lady of of Grace Church, 73 Midline Rd. Ballston Lake. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-7pm in the Glenville FUneral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville. Interment will be in the spring at Historic Jonesville Cemetery.
