Obituary of Evelyn Cron

Evelyn K. Cron, 77, of Schenectady, died on her birthday, February 2, 2013, at Ellis Hospital. Evelyn was born in Stockbridge, VT, the daughter of the late John and Amanda Baldwin Knight. She was a graduate of Whitcomb high school in Bethel VT. She moved to the Schenectady area and lived with her sister, Elsie Novotny and began her career with the NYS Department of Tax & Finance in Albany, retiring in 2009 after 53 years of service. Evelyn met Robert Cron at a YMCA square dance and were married May 17, 1964. They remained Schenectady residents and raised there family. She was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting them in their endeavors as they grew. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Robert. Survivors include her daughter Amanda E. McVey (Husband: Scott) and son John R. Cron, grandchildren: Scarlett Philbert, Nathan and Kourtney McVey; her sister Elsie Novotny as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at noon on Saturday February 9, 2013 from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm on Friday February 8.
