Obituary of Dorothy B. Mason
Dorothy B. Mason, 79, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2017 at Ludder’s Country Home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Catherine Boulé. Dorothy was educated at St. Patrick’s School in Troy and was a 1954 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Dorothy was the beloved wife of Frank Mason who passed on October 29, 2016. Dorothy and Frank were married at St. Patrick’s Church in Troy on October 5, 1957. As her children entered their teenage years, Dorothy went to work for the George Washington School District in Brunswick, and later for Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, as an administrative assistant for many years, retiring in 1999. Dorothy was a long time communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Dorothy’s greatest joy and fondest memories were always from times when she was surrounded by her family. Holidays were always a festive event at the Mason home, looked forward to and enjoyed by all of her family. Additionally she enjoyed many trips with Frank to Hershey Pennsylvania as well as with her children and grandchildren for their annual vacations to Hampton Beach.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, David (Frances) Mason, Robert Mason, Linda (Brian) Fitzpatrick, and Jeanne (Robert) Heiserman as well as eight grandchildren Brittany Fitzpatrick, Kristin (Kevin) Hamel, Scott Fitzpatrick, Mark Fitzpatrick, Michael Mason, Lindsay Fitzpatrick, Lisa Mason and Marisa Heiserman. Dorothy is also survived by her sisters-in law Emma Ashe, Mary Leah Mason and Phyllis Boulé as well as 24 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph (Nancy) Boulé and Robert Boulé and brother and sister’s-in-law, James (Ann) Mason, Letitia (Earl) Willis, Alex “Bud” Mason, Margaret (Donald) Patton, Raymond (Joan) Mason, and Bill Ashe.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held privately for the family. Interment will be at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
The family would like to thank the staff of Ludder’s Country Home for the compassionate care given to Dorothy over the past months.
