Obituary of Julia Mary Dzuba

Julia Mary Dzuba "Papa Julie", on February 21, 2017. Born in Little Falls, NY on February 23, 1924, she died on the cusp of her 93rd birthday. Julia, one of two girls born to Martin and Maude (Nichols) Canner. She graduated the Ellis Hospital School of Nursing and later that same year married Edward M. Dzuba on November 6, 1947 in a ceremony in Little Falls. The couple then settled in Mariaville, NY. Mrs. Dzuba, known affectionately as "Papa Julie", was the school nurse at Mariaville Elementary School for the next 35 years. Julia loved to shop, watch PBS TV programs and an avid reader of mystery novels. She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Survivors include a son, John E. Dzuba of Esperance; four daughters, Karen A. (Mark) Wheaton of Mariaville, Diane M. Dzuba, Lois Berger and Laurie Lasher, all of Schenectady; two grandchildren, Sean (Tracey) Wheaton and Shannon (Eric) Young; four great grandchildren; Thomas and Ashleigh and Skyler Wheaton and Drake Joseph Young. Julie leaves behind her sister Margaret "Margie" Bauder of Little Falls, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial Mass celebrating Julia's life will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Saratoga Rd. (Rte 50) Scotia-Glenville. Fr.Jerry Gingras officiating. A calling hour shared with the family (at the church) will precede from 9-10 am. Interment will be in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Princetown under the direction of the Glenville Funeral Home of Scotia-Glenville.
