Obituary of David A. Orminski

David A. Orminski, 73, passed away at his home February 25, 2017. Born in Schenectady, he was a lifelong area resident growing up on the Orminski Family Farm in Alplaus. He was the son of the late Frank and Olga Orminski. Dave graduated Niskayuna High School's class of '61, then received his degree in Horticulture from Cobleskill Community College. While fresh out of college he took a job at United Welding on Freeman's Bridge Rd., became General Manager and worked there 40 years. Dave married the former Cheryl Dennebaum on August 28, 1965. For a short while they lived in Scotia before moving permanently to Burnt Hills in 1979. They were members of Charlton Freehold Presbyterian Church. An outdoors type, Dave was an avid fisherman and deer hunter with a passion for gardening. His knowledge of horticulture was most impressive. He enjoyed going out to eat at local diners. He was happiest when surrounded by his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved son Jon Orminski and his sister Olga Clark. Survivors include his wife Cheryl, son, David (Laura) Orminski and their children: Emily, Brittany and Kyle Orminski. He leaves behind his brothers; Frank (Darlene), Carl (Sandra) and Edward (Mary) Orminski his sister Irene Orminski and brother-in-law Donald Clark. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held FRIDAY 11 am at GLENVILLE FUNERAL HOME, 9 Glenridge Rd., Rev. John Califano officiating. Calling hours Thursday (March 2) from 6-8 pm.
