Obituary of Robert W. Chapman

Robert W. Chapman, 85, passed away unexpectedly March 13, 2017. Mr. Chapman was born in Waterbury, CT. on August 6, 1931, the son of the late Roger and Katherine (Willetts) Chapman. A graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven he received his bachelors from M.I.T and subsequently earned his MBA from R.P.I.in Troy. Throughout his career he worked as a Professional Engineer, last employed by UC Millwork in Amsterdam, NY. Robert was a veteran of the Korean War era '49-'51 where he served with the Air Force. He was married on May 30, 1987 to the former Phyllis L. Cuzzone of Schenectady. Bob enjoyed reading about history and was an avid classic car buff. He loved to barbeque and enjoyed the companionship of others. Traveling was another interest of Bob's. In the past the Chapman's had taken several enjoyable trips with the late Don Weeks. He was predeceased by his brother Roger Chapman. Survivors include his beloved wife, Phyllis Chapman; 4 sons, Stephen (Kimberly) Chapman, Timothy (Liz) Chapman, Timothy (Patti) Wilson, Gary (Katherine) Wilson and daughter, Sally (late Michael) Cameron. Robert leaves behind his brother, Richard Chapman ; 5 grandchildren: Robert Adam Chapman, Eric Cameron, Emery McDonald, Samuel and Morgan Wilson and 3 great grandchildren: Brookelyn, Zachary and Jacob McDonald. A Memorial celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 18th at 12 noon in Glenville Funeral Home, located at 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville with Rev. James McDonald officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may call prior from 11-12 noon. Entombment will be held later in the spring at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery with Air Force honors bestowed.
