Dear Mrs. Lindholm and Family,
I find it hard to put into words how very sad I was to hear of Pastor Lindholm's passing. My memories of him start from the very beginning of my life. At 6 months old and I was in Ellis Hospital very ill. He was the night Chaplin that night and he baptized me in the hospital bathroom sink. I believe he saved my life that night and my mother would agree.
We started attending Good Shepherd after that and have been there since. Throughout my childhood, I saw Pastor Lindholm almost every week until his retirement and he always had a twinkle in his eye.
I remember when i was travelling out of Albany airport, probably about 12 years ago, and it just happened that we were on the same flight, and sitting right next to each other. He was on his way to Germany and I was heading somewhere else, and I cant remember where now. It was amazing to have that uninterrupted time with him to just chat about any and everything, even if it was only for the length of a connecting flight. It was meant to be.
Then, almost 5 years ago, he married my husband and I. I always knew I wanted him to be the one to do the ceremony, and he agreed. It was incredibly special for me to have him there for one of the most important days of my life.
I am so very sorry for your loss. What an incredible loss it is. I know I was one of many whose life he touched in a special way. I will miss him dearly and I will never forget him.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Sarah Allen

I send my prayers and condolences from my great respect and friendship to Charles. When I was a young clergy woman serving as an Associate Pastor in Burnt Hills he befriended me and invited me to travel with a trip he was leading through The Rotary to Turkey. With Katrina Wolff, we three renewed our baptismal vows in the tiny cave in Antioch where it is said in the book of Acts people were first called Christians. It is a holy and powerful memory for me. Charles was a giant of a man in life, and I believe his beautiful voice now joins the angels in singing for the ongoing redemption of our lives. May your family feel the comfort of God during this season of loss. Sincerely, Mary Fraser, Des Moines, Iowa

Dear Nancy, Mialisa, and Sven:
I am very sad. Charles has been a friend ever since I arrived back in Berlin in 1976 after twelve years in the US. He was my pastor and has counselled me in difficult situations. He was warm and caring, and I have admired him each time he came back to Berlin to do research on the ACB. His passing away is a great loss. I am mourning with you.

My deepest condolences to the Lindholm family on the passing of Dr. Charles Lindholm. Special thoughts to my long-time colleague at BHBL Middle School, Nancy, her son, Sven, and daughter Mialisa, who was also a colleague at BHBL High School.
Your husband and father certainly had a distinguished and positive life and I am so sorry that I could not have attended the viewing to express my thoughts to you personally, due to recent surgery. I'm sure he will be well-remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Dear Mrs. Lindholm and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Pastor Lindholm's passing. I learned so much from him during our shared time at Good Shepherd and beyond. I know our family felt a special bond with Pastor and for that I consider us all so fortunate. I am sad he has left the Earth but rejoice that he has risen and is with the Lord.
I bring my children to Good Shepherd and think of all of my friends and special people that I have known over the years, from childhood to teenage years to adulthood. Pastor Lindholm was there to see it all. I will continue to think of him always when in the church and am blessed to have had his guidance and wisdom.
With sympathy and love, I wish you peace during this tough time. He will be missed, remembered and loved always.

Dear Nancy and family,
My sincere condolences to you all on the passing of your husband, father, grandfather, and other relative. I enjoyed working with Chuck here in Berlin many years ago, preaching occasionally at the Old Village Church, where the American Church in Berlin then met. We even shared the same hotel room when the congregation made a trip to the Soviet Union - Russia (Moscow and Leningrad - now St. Petersburg).
Released now from his health deficiencies, may he be at rest in God's loving hands. It was wonderful that you could accompany him at the very end of his life.
May the Lord of life, our hope from Easter, comfort you now in your bereavement.
Sincerely, Roger David Aus

Dear Family of Charles, Lindholm
My wife, Luray, attended Augustana College when Charles was also a student there. We have been together at many meetings of the American Foreign and Christian Union in our work together on behalf of the international churches in Europe. At times we have been in relationship and service with other members of Chuck's family. It has been a joy to have Chuck as a friend and companion in our Christian journey.
As a Pastor of the Vienna Community Church in Vienna, Austria, I worked with Charles and other Board Members of the VCC and the American Foreign and Christian Union to join in the work of serving EXPATS abroad with the congregations in Berlin and Paris. I shall always remember Charles for his faithful commitment to serving the church and community.
Luray and I express our condolences to Charles' family with prayers for peace and comfort as you commit him to God and to his loving Care.
Sincerely, Jim and Luray Wiberg, luray2jim@yahoo.com

Dear Nancy, MiaLisa, Sven and family;
Clare and I were saddened to hear of Charles' passing from life into life but know he is with our Lord. Our entire family (Faith, Stacey and Erin) send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers for you all and we will continue to hold Charles in a special place in our hearts with fond memories of our time with you all at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. One pleasant surprise in our lives occurred a number of years ago when we were in Berlin visiting Stacey and her family. We attended the service at the American Church in Berlin and were delighted to see Charles and speak with him and enjoy a short but happy reunion. Our lives were touched and blessed by knowing Charles. God bless you all.

Charles was admired by all. He made Rotary very special for me personally as he inspired so many of us to do good works of "Service Above Self". His love of music was so evident as he led our Friday meetings every week in song with his unforgettable "bum, bum, bump".
We're going to miss you Charles.
