Obituary of Shirley May Paparella

On April 19, 2017 Shirley’s prayers were answered and she is once again in the loving arms of her husband of 69 years, Frankie. She passed on with her devoted family and incredibly loving and skilled nursing staff at Glendale Home, supporting her in her journey to join those who had gone before her. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Frankie; her Mom and Dad, Mamie and William Sanders; her sister and brother-in-law Audrey and John Smith. We are certain that they are enjoying each other’s company around Gramma Sander’s table (well, maybe a little sparing going on between Dad and Uncle Johnny). Shirley and Frankie are the parents of Patricia, Pamela and William (Jean) Paparella; grandparents to Tari, Tony (Lisa) and Jeff (Annette) Karbowski, Rachal and Matthew Paparella; great-grandparents to Raegan and TJ Karbowski, Azalea and Zinnia KarDi, Tatum Powers and Giana Paparella-Culnan. Karen, David II and Nicholas Cosey were welcomed into their hearts unconditionally. Sharon Styles is their niece who they considered their third “daughter”. Mom is survived also by Aunt Jayne McCann, sister-in-law, more like a sister, who held Mom’s hand as mom transistioned into peace. Many nieces and nephews will miss the warmth of her smile, her subtle wit and her dedication to family and cherished friends throughout the years. We ask that you honor Mom’s wishes and celebrate a life well lived and wear the color purple and, most of all be kind to one another. Services will be held 2PM on Monday, April 24th, at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road. A calling period will be held Sunday, April 23rd, at the funeral home from 4 to 6 PM.
