Obituary of Bertha Renton Graham

Bertha Renton Graham, 88, passed away peacefully April 24, 2017 at Ellis Hospital with her family at her side. She was born in Circleville, NY on January 15, 1929, the beloved daughter of Harold and Margaret (Brown) Renton. She married Alfred Graham on May 28, 1948 in Middletown, NY. She was a stay at home mother until her children were grown and she then worked for the Navy Depot in Scotia NY. Her hobbies included Indy car racing, college football, softball, skiing, reading, gardening and puzzles. Other interests included politics and family history. More than anything, she enjoyed spending and caring for her family members. She also loved and became a second mother to many of her daughters friends and her grandchildren’s friends and was adoringly known as “Granny”. Granny spent summers at their family camp and much time in their backyard, always by the fireplace telling her famous stories to all. Granny was extremely proud of her husband, Dr. Alfred Graham, who she selflessly cared for. Bertha was also predeceased by her siblings, Jacob Vaughn and Vivian Juanita Renton. Survivors include her daughters, Pamela (Daniel) Bartholomew, Greta (Mitchell) Frasier and twins, Miriam (Gerard Altimari) Bodwell and Jennifer (George) Fisher; her brother, Harry Scott (Barbara) Renton and grandchildren, Graham (Victoria Altimari) Frasier, John Frasier and John (Keri) Willis. Bertha leaves behind several nieces and nephews. A service in remembrance will be held Saturday, April 29 at 3 p.m. in the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call prior from 1 to 3 p.m. Casual attire please. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.
