Obituary of Howard Francis Crossman

Howard Francis Crossman, 99, formerly of Coburg Village, died peacefully on April 28th, 2017 at Schuyler Ridge where he has been a resident since last summer.

Born November 9, 1917 in Waltham, MA, the son of Harold and Pearl (Daye) Crossman, the family moved to Hartford, Connecticut when he was a child. He graduated from Hartford Public High School in 1936 and in 1942 married his high school sweetheart, Miriam Neal, who preceded him in death.

Howard was veteran of the Army of the United States, serving ultimately as an ambulance platoon commander with the 428th Medical Collecting Company moving the wounded after D-Day and following the army across France and Germany through the liberation of Buchenwald.

After the war, he raised his family in Glastonbury, Connecticut. He worked as a steamfitter for many years. He and Miriam moved to Niskayuna in 1997, then to Coburg Village.

Predeceased by his wife, Miriam, in 2009, he was also predeceased by two sisters, Mable Crossman Wynings and Stella Crossman Fisher. He leaves his three children, Howard Crossman (Sheila) of Naples, FL, Susanne Kimura (Gene) of Niskayuna, and John Crossman (Wendy) of Sandy, UT, along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves a circle of wonderful friends at Coburg Village who greatly enhanced his last years.

At his request, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Rose Hill Cemetery, Rock Hill, Connecticut.
