Obituary of James Edward Lucas

James Edward Lucas Sr., 97, of Coburg Village died May 11, 2017 at Ellis Hospital.

 He was born in Kokomo, IN on April 8, 1920. Jim went to International Business College growing up in Fort Wayne, IN. He lived in Bowling Green KY, Bloomfield, NJ, and Deer Park, OH before moving to Glenville in 1966.

 Jim was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII as a technical sergeant. He took part in the Battle of the Bulge where he was fired upon, receiving the Purple Heart.

 He worked for General Electric Co. for 44 years, retiring as a production specialist in 1984. His wife, Dorothea (Hartlaub) Lucas of Bloomfield, NJ died in 1971. In August, 1981 he married the former Mary Jane (Biggerstaff) Luther. She predeceased him in 2010. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed the outdoors with sport fishing, hunting, and gardening. Jim was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons as well as the 25 Year Club of General Electric. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward A. and Mabel McReynolds Lucas as well as his siblings.

 Survivors include his son, James E. Lucas Jr. (Mariann) of Lawrenceville, NJ and grandson James E. Lucas III of Kansas City, MO.

 Relatives and friends may call at Faith Baptist Church in Rexford (Corner of Glenridge and Bradt Rds.) on Tuesday, May 16 from 10-11 AM. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM at the church.  A procession to the Solomon National Cemetery with military honors will follow.
