Obituary of George Fountain

George R. Fountain, 79, of Glenville passed away February 10, 2013 at Ellis Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Glenridge, NJ, on December 28, 1933, he was the son of the late George R. Fountain Sr. and Charlotte Voneschen Fountain. George grew up in the Bronx, relatively a stone's throw, from Yankee Stadium. He graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx (same school as Gen. Colin Powell). George enjoyed playing sports and continued throughout his life cheering his NY sports teams to victory, including his beloved Yankees and NY Football G-men. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore with a degree in Chemistry. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He met Angeline Cuda who worked at KAPL and married her on June 21, 1958. The sacrament was performed at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. George was employed with KAPL for 43 years as a Radioactive Test Chemist until retiring in 1996. He lived in Glenville since 1961. George was very active with Scotia-Glenville Senior Center and did volunteer work for the Glendale nursing Home. He was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville and Knights of St. John's Commandery. Survivors include his beloved wife Angeline Fountain, daughters, Denise R. Lansing (Mark) of Charlton, Lynn Finegan (Kenneth) of Chicago, Pamela DeAngelis (Russell) of Glenville, Susan Leupold (James); sons, David Fountain (Debora) of Valdosta, GA and Steven Fountain (Amy) of Cooperstown, NY. Cherished grandchildren: David and Marci Lansing, Kailyn and Conor Finnegan, Ryan and Kara Fountain, Christina, Anthony and Matthew DeAngelis, Michael and Stephen Leupold and Sara and Natalie Fountain. Funeral services begin Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 8:15 AM from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. followed at 9:00 AM by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville with Rev. Jerry Gingras officiating. Calling hours will be held 4 PM to 7 PM Wednesday at Glenville Funeral Home. Interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church in George's name.
