Obituary of Harriet Ellen Rising Ollinger

Harriet Ellen Rising Ollinger, 88, of Scotia passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017, in Troy, NY, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center; she suffered from Alzheimer's disease in recent years.

Harriet was born in Bridgewater, NY, to Lillian Mae Pritchard Rising and Howard T. Rising, on November 29, 1928.  She went to high school in West Winfield, NY, and then went on to earn a certificate in Early Childhood Education from Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical School as it was then known. She worked as a housemother at the Charlton School for Girls for twenty-six years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Glenville, New York.

Harriet is survived by her step-nieces and nephews, Sandra Brady of Poughkeepsie, NY, William and Linda Carruthers, of Poughkeepsie, NY, Janet Robinson of Greenwich, CT, and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ollinger.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, on June 24, at 11a.m., with Reverend Deron Milleville officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Glenville Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 547 Saratoga Rd, Glenville, NY 12302, or to the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center Scholarship Fund, 421 West Columbia Street, Cohoes NY 12047. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center, Cohoes, NY, and the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center for their loving care of their Aunt Harriet in recent years.
