I was saddened to hear about the death of this extraordinary woman. I got to know Susan ten years ago, after my father, Bill Piper, died and I took over my mother's finances. I will never forget the first time my sister, mother and I sat together with Susan to sort through financial issues. We became fast friends! In addition to her professional advice and help, she was so very warm and loving. We shared a lot over the years - every February or March, meeting at the office to catch up (and prepare taxes!). Susan was always interested in our family news (she even watched our son Andrew's first film), and shared her latest updates about the family she adored. I am sorry that I didn't know about her illness. I met Heather this year, when I dropped mom's taxes off at the office and heard that Susan had retired. I did ask Heather to give her mom a hug from me, but I was unaware of her health struggles. You all must be so very proud of all that she accomplished and I know she touched many hearts outside of family as well. Mom said that the Glenville Funeral home was packed, reflecting the outpouring of the community. Lots of love and prayers to all of you during this time of loss. Warmly, Nancy Piper Jenks

From our first meeting over 35 years ago, I recognized Susan as a woman of substance and strength. Susan was my friend, mentor and hero. There wasn't anything she couldn't accomplish, and she did it all with class and grace. I was most impressed by the genuine warmth and respect she radiated to everyone who came in contact with her. We have lost a truly great woman. My family and I share your sorrow and pain, and we are here for you whenever. We love you all and are praying for you.

Susan's smile at St. Joseph's was always one of the brightest and most sincere in the room. I had the pleasure of knowing her enough years I honestly don't know how many it was.
She is going to be missed by so many. It will not be the same without her.
May her memory always be a blessing.

Condolences and prayers for Marie's mother. Her life story is truly impressive and is indicative of a person who has lived life fully as a committed wife and mother coincidently with a productive professional career. We are sure she will be missed greatly by her family. Her faith makes us believe she is with the Lord , and, even as the family mourns her loss, should be of great consolation. We will make a contribution to her charity in her name. Frank and Cathy De Britz

All this and more you see…
Mentor, whisperer, friend, she is all this and more you see,
For without her nudge, I would not be me.
Happiness was something I didn’t think I knew, but my mentor and friend thought differently.
She spoke to me in a way that no one else could. It meant the world to me.
Nothing was missing; it was there within me, like a shining light on a clear blue sea.
Genuine, kind, forgiving and free, she is a woman who brought out the best in me.
What else could she be?
Grateful and thankful, what else could I be?
Mentoring, whispering… all this and more you see,
For without my nudge, how can you be the best you can be?

Susan was, in our experience, a perceptive and caring tax accountant--if that's a legitimate combination of adjectives and nouns. She was our refuge and strength at tax season, and we will miss her and the personal attention she provided.
Daughter Heather, you have big shoes to fill. Our sympathies, and best of luck.

The loss of this bright and beautiful woman will be something that I will never get over. I came to know Susan through marriage to her oldest son, Mark and she was the best mother in law any woman could ever have. Her advice and support was something I counted on throughout the years. I wish I could have seen her once more but I will always remember her smile and her voice. God speed Susan. It is good to have another angel to watch over us.
