Obituary of Olga Hunter (Lovestrand)

Olga Lovestrand Hunter (better known as Dolly to her Friends and Family) went home to Glory on June 13, 2017, at the age of 89, peacefully at home with her family.

 

Dolly was born to Louis and Olga Lovestrand on January 6, 1928 in Glen Head, L.I., the second of eight children. She was a graduate of Roslyn High School, L.I. Dolly moved upstate with her family to Canajoharie in 1945. On August 19, 1950, Dolly married James Hunter of Esperence, NY and they moved to Glenville in 1954. Dolly was one of the Charter Members of Faith Baptist Church and served in many different ways over the years. She worked at General Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1987 as a Manager of Payroll in the Service Shop Department. She was a member of the 25 year club. After raising her three children, encouraged by her superiors, she returned to school and at the age of 55 received her Associated Degree in Accounting from Schenectady Community College.

 

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, James E. Hunter of Glenville, her children, Cheryl Burns and her husband Robert of Bethlehem, NH, Linda Fedele and her husband Ronald of Bethlehem, NH and Walter Hunter and his wife Kristin of Ballston Spa. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, David Burns and his wife Ashley, Ryan Burns and his wife Ashley, Nathan Burns and his wife Ashley, Zachary Burns, Lauren Mulkigian, Kate Mulkigian, Benjamin Mulkigian, Samantha Hunter and Kellie Hunter; and 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Rev. Harold Lovestrand and his wife Muriel, John Lovestrand and his wife Frances, Doris Radford, Paul Lovestrand and his wife Gail. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dolly loved her family greatly. She will be missed by her children and relatives as well as many friends.

 

A celebration of Dolly’s life will be held at the Faith Baptist Church at 10 AM on June 20, 2017, followed by a burial at 2:30 PM at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM on June 19th at the Faith Baptist Church.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mission House of Faith Baptist Church or Schenectady City Mission.
