Obituary of Charles W. White

Charles W. White, 89, of Glenville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 5, 2017. Born in Lake Placid, NY he was the son of the late Willis and Lila (LaBombard) White. After graduating from Lake Placid High School, he went on to receive an Associate degree at SUNY Canton.

He married the former Hilda Torrance in Lake Placid, NY, raising their 4 sons together.

In 1947, Charles began a 39 year career with G.E. as a draftsman for L.M. & G; he retired in 1986. He was a dedicated worker with many craftsman skills, and was proud to have built his own home on Sacandaga Road.

Charles enjoyed traveling, he visited destinations such as Nova Scotia and Cape Breton, Arizona and Florida. He was an antique car enthusiast, his favorite being his 1932 Ford Model 'B'.

He earned his pilot license which allowed him to travel on his own by air.  However his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hilda White; four sons, Peter L. (Patricia) White of Topsham, ME, John R. (Kristy) White of Pittsburgh, PA, David C. White of Ballston Spa, NY, Paul W. (Donna) White of Moseley, VA; six grandchildren, Sarah (Wayne Jr.) Berry, Peter C. White, Larro (Travis) Falton, Joshua White, Meghan and Branden Call; and 3 great grandchildren, Liam, Noah and Emily Berry. Charles is also survived by his brother, Roland White and his wife Alta of Center Harbor, NH; his sisters Theresa Quinn of Burnt Hills and Jeanette Corson of Saranac Lake; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Thursday July 13, 2017 from 6-8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Saratoga Rd, Glenville, on Friday July 14, 2017 at 9:00am followed by burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery located in Glenville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Charles’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
