John Laura

Obituary of John V. Laura

John V. Laura, 56, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 19th, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elizabeth Roberts-Laura, three sons, Adam and wife Caitlin of Norwalk CT, Ryan of Buffalo, NY, and Jonathan Laura of Scotia, NY; his parents Anthony and Matia Laura of Frankfort, NY; his brother Philip Laura and partner Thaddeus Winbush of Raleigh, NC; and sister Catherine and husband David Salatino of Frankfort, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

John grew up in Frankfort, NY and moved to Scotia, NY where he and his wife Liz raised their three sons. John worked as an Asst. VP of Key Bank International and for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, as well as the Glen Sanders Mansion. He was also active with East Glenville Community Church.

John’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, often while enjoying a wonderful meal. He cherished his parents, brother, sister and their families. In spite of his limitations during the last few years, John traveled with his family and together they created a lifetime of joyful memories. John was always most proud of his sons, who inherited his work ethic and who, along with Liz, took such loving care of him. His son Jonathan was an amazing caregiver, and his family couldn’t be more proud of him. John was so happy to add a daughter to his family when Adam married Caitlin. His wife Liz feels very blessed by the family they created and the memories they made.

John was an example of quiet strength and grace to all who knew him. He was blessed to have caring and generous friends who brought laughter, love, and often a helping hand. He had a special relationship with his sister-in-law Mary Pelletier who was his friend, a second sister, and was there for him whenever he needed her.

John and his family are grateful for the kindness and care he received from his doctors, especially Dr. John Pezzulo; Community Hospice, especially Gina his “buddy” who laughed and joked with him through all his care needs, and Lynn, who continued to visit and make him laugh.
