Obituary of Gary M. Downs

Gary M. Downs, 69, passed away peacefully after a valiant fight on July 23, 2017 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Plattsburgh, New York he was the son of the late Hubert and Ann Downs. Gary attended Saranac Central High School and went on to SUNY Delhi as well as the Manufacturing Engineering Program at General Electric.  He was employed at General Electric in Schenectady, R&D Center, General Electric Silicones and retired in 2013 after many faithful years from Momentive Performance Materials in Waterford, NY.
Gary married his beloved wife June P. Brulinski on June 2, 1973.  He had a passion for golfing as well as taking care of his home.  One could often find him on his John Deere tractor keeping his lawn in perfect order. Known as "Mr. Fix it"  there was never a problem he couldn't solve.  He enjoyed family vacations as well as routing for his Los Angeles Dodgers.  However, Gary’s greatest joy was his family. He loved spending time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren.  They will always remember him for his support, patience and integrity.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, June Downs, his son Benjamin (Sarah Huehn) Downs and his daughter Rebecca (Jason) Santos. He was the beloved grandfather to John and Mary Santos. Gary leaves behind his siblings Raymond (Carol) Downs, William (Roxanne) Downs, John (Norma) Downs, Jan Downs, Mary Lou (Peter) Duquette, Barbara (Frank) LeClair, Peggy (Dan) Guynup and Betty Jean (Bernie) Bassett. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and longtime family friends Kevin Kelley and the Krzystyniak Family.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Hubert and Ann Downs, his father and mother in law Edward and Mary Brulinski and his sister in law Marilyn Brulinski.
Calling hours for Gary will be on Thursday July 27, 2017 from 5-8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral Services will begin on Friday July 28, 2017 at 10am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd, Clifton Park, NY. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery, Scotia NY.
