Obituary of Eleanor L. Symeon

Eleanor L. Symeon, 78, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2017 at Ellis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Purdy. Elly attended high school in Mexico, NY and continued her education at Hudson Valley Community College receiving a degree in Computer Science. Eleanor married her beloved husband Ronald on October 10, 1992. She retired from New York State after working there for many years as a computer analyst.  She enjoyed sewing, photography, traveling, and square dancing with her husband. Eleanor was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. She especially enjoyed her time on Sacandaga Lake at the family camp. Most importantly Elly loved spending time with her family.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years Ronald Symeon, her children Robert (Joann Fitzsimmons) Zieske II, Shelley Zieske, John (Denise) Zieske, Sherrill Chachere, and Daniel Symeon and her beloved grandchildren Nicole (Justin) Adkins, Colin Zieske, Ian Zieske, Renee Zieske, Derek Zieske, Brittany Allen, Luke Chachere and Jessica Chachere.  She is also survived by her brother James (Linda) Purdy as well as several nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother William Purdy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eleanor will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 9am at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 73 Midline Rd, Ballston Lake, NY. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Eleanor’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
