Obituary of Fred Behrmann

Fred L. Behrmann, 93, passed to eternal life on Friday February 15, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte S. Behrmann and the son of the late Adolph and Pearl Behrmann formerly of Rexford, NY. Fred is survived by his wife Charlotte S. Behrmann whom he married on December 2, 1955 and a son Glen J. Behrmann of Baden, Switzerland. Fred was born in Palisade, NJ and graduated from Vocation High School as a bookkeeper and accountant. In night school, he pursued studies in Metallurgy and became a Metallurgical Specialist for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, retiring January 1, 1982 after 40 ½ years. Fred served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as an Aerographer's Mate on a destroyer escort in the Pacific. He held a pilot's license, loved flying as well as everything about aeronautics. Fred enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader. After retirement, Fred belonged to the Annie Schaffer golf and bowling leagues; and he worked as a security guard mainly at the Gazette Newspapers in Schenectady, for a total of 26 years. On Thursday, February 21, 2013, funeral services will be held at 1 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. East Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited to a calling period from 11am to 1 pm prior to the service. After cremation takes place, a brief graveside service will be held at Park Cemetery on Sacandaga Rd, Scotia, at noon on Saturday February 23. Memorial contributions in Fred's name maybe made to either the ALS Center at SUNY Upstate Medical University, An ALS Association Certified Center of Excellence, Department of Neurology, 750 East Adams Street, Syracuse, NY 13210 or to a charity of one's choice.
