Obituary of Dorothy Jean Mullen

Dorothy Jean Mullen, 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2017 at the Glendale Home. Born in Rotterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Riley. Dorothy Jean graduated from Draper High School and went on to continue her education at Mildred Elley. Following graduation she worked for General Electric. Dorothy Jean retired from Visiting Nurse Services of Schenectady after many faithful years as a nursing aide .She loved to cook and take care of her home. Dorothy Jean above all cared for her family.

She is survived by her children Lawrence J. Mullen (Barbara Spanjers), Mary Anne Mullen (Phillip Brayman), Thomas E. Mullen and James J. Mullen. Her grandchildren Daniel R. Mullen and Liam Q. Mullen. Her companion for over 30 years Skip Schultes. Also surviving are her nieces Susan Hoekstra (John) and their children Altjé (Colin) and Dane (Lindsay) and Mary Beth Tate (Michael) and their children Dylan and Michael. Additionally her late nephew, David Misarko’s daughter Tracy Osborne (Dan) survives. . 

Dorothy Jean was predeceased by her brother James J. Riley, sister Mary Elizabeth Misarko and her nephew David Misarko.

A  Liturgy of the Word for Dorothy Jean will be held on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 9am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road Glenville, NY. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Dorothy Jean’s name may be made to the Community Hospice 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
