Obituary of Robert H. Boutier

Robert H. Boutier, 87, of Glenville passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017 at the Loving Home at the Bluff. Bob was born in Providence, Rhode Island on May 18, 1930 and was the son of the late Howard A. and Alice H. Boutier.  He was raised in Cranston, Rhode Island and resided in Rhode Island until 1958. He was an engineering graduate of the University of Rhode Island in 1958, he spent several years in other engineering jobs until joining General Electric in 1962, retiring in 1992.  Bob earned his masters degree in Engineering at Union College in 1966. He was a communicant of The Church of the Immaculate Conception, having served as a teacher in the religious education program for 16 or more years, was a past member of the parish council, a former usher, and served as a Eucharistic minister and lector.  He also was a member of the Resurrection Committee and St. Vincent de Paul Society where he served as treasurer. Bob was an active member of the community serving as a member of the PTA, Little League, Cub Scout and volunteered at St. Clare’s Hospital.  Bob was also an avid woodworker, bridge player, reader, golfer and bike rider.  Additionally, he was a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox.  Bob was an Army Sargent veteran of the the Korean War, serving 13 months in Korea out of his total service time of three years. Bob is survived by his wife Olimpia R. (Rivera) Boutier to whom he was married on June 4, 1955.  He was a devoted husband to her during their 62 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Denise (Martin) Thompson and son Robert H. Boutier Jr.  (the late Gina).  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Megan Geroux (Christopher), Zachary Thompson, and Juliana Boutier.  Bob also leaves behind his two great-grandchildren , Ethan Francis Geroux, and Nolan Robert Geroux. He is the brother of Jean Desjarlais and (the late) Claire Jenison.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 A Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Robert will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville.  Relatives and friends may call prior to the mass from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Church.   Entombment will be private for the family at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY.
