Obituary of Edna M. Ovitt

Edna M. Ovitt, 81, entered eternal life on October 13, 2017, her family was at her bedside.

Edna was born in Schenectady, NY on January 30, 1936, the daughter of the late Claude and Edna (Rorick) Fry She attended Nott Terrace High School where she studied nursing.  

Edna was united in marriage on January 2, 1954 to William H. Ovitt in Schenectady. Edna was a devoted wife and mother. She served as den mother (cub Scouts) for her older boys. Later she became a loyal N.Y. Yankee's fan, thanks to her youngest son. An excellent cook, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well. Edna cherished spending time with friends and family and loved to play bingo. For over twenty years she lived in Florida where the sun and beach were always close by.

She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Miltner.

Survivors include her beloved husband, William H. Ovitt Sr.; her sons, William (Helen) Ovitt Jr., Edgar (Darnelle) Ovitt, Charles (Amy) Ovitt and her daughter, Deborah (Richard) Davis. She is the cherished grandmother of Michael and Amanda Davis, William (Amanda) Ovitt III, Allison (Robert) Ballard, Robert Ovitt, Hayley, Avery and Andrew Ovitt and Elaina, Elyssa, Tara and Tiffany Ovitt. She leaves behind a legacy of several great grandchildren, one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 21st at 7:00 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Scotia-Glenville (Off Rtout 50). Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Memorials in
her name are encouraged to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 421 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205.
