Obituary of Geraldine Freund

Geraldine (Gerry) Freund passed away on November 6, 2017 at the age of 95. Born in the Bronx on June 9, 1922.

Gerry was predeceased by her husband, Sidney, and two brothers, Seymour and Bernard Greenberg.

She is survived by her sons, James Freund of Springfield, VA (Barbara) and Douglas Freund of Webster, MA (Linda), and by her two daughters, Barbara Freund of Shushan NY (David) and Audrey Freund Woliner of Glenville, NY (Howard) as well as six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  

After raising her children in Colonia, NJ, Gerry returned to college and earned her teaching degree.  She taught elementary school for twenty years and was an enthusiastic, dedicated educator.  Gerry was an avid tennis player, loved knitting, quilting, playing cards, going to the Racino, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Contributions in Gerry’s memory may be made to Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care in Clifton Park in recognition of the loving, compassionate care their staff provided in her last months.  A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm at the Glenville Funeral Home located at 9 Glenridge Road Glenville, NY.
