Obituary of Eugene Lanoue

Eugene O. Lanoue, 84, died at Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Gene was born in Winos- ki, VT, the son of the late Al- phonse and Ce- cile Lanoue. He was a graduate of Bennington High School. For 30 years he owned and op- erated the Genie Insurance Agency in Schenectady. Gene loved to cook, going to the ocean and vacationing at Cape Cod. In 1988, Gene founded the Native American Base spiritual group. He loved to travel to the Onondaga reservation and Lil- lydale. He loved flowers and caring for his garden. Gene did numerous Rotary services in the area. Gene is survived by his wife, Ruby Edith Lanoue; children, Mary Ann Lanoue-Alvaro, Jeannie Forand (Michael), Robert Lanoue; grandchildren, Darren (Sara) and Jason Alva- ro, Serena, April and Jamie Lanoue, Amanda Johnson (Michael); great-grandchil- dren, Simon and Elyas Alvaro, Amirra Lanoue, Brandon Jingle and Michael Johnson; siblings, Theodore Lanoue, Cecile He- bert, Theresa Jolin; as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville on Sunday, February 24, from 1 to 3 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. officiated by Rev. Jerome Gingras of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
