Obituary of Janet Smith

Janet Elizabeth (Bunkoff) Smith, 69, passed away after a long illness on February 25, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born February 15, 1944 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Edward D. Bunkoff and the late Elizabeth (Stoodley) Bunkoff of Ballston Spa. She was a 1962 graduate of Scotia-Glenville High School and the St. Clare's Hospital School of X-Ray Technology. She was employed by Schenectady Regional Orthopedics, retiring in May 2012. Over the years Janet was an avid bowler and later enjoyed golf, playing on several leagues in both sports. In addition to her father Edward Bunkoff of Ballston Spa, survivors include: her loving son Ian of Glenville, her sisters: Susan H. Riley (Peter Sage) of Naples, FL and Lisa A. Whelan of Plantsville, CT; and nieces Ashley and Stephanie Whelan. Many cousins and a host of loving friends also survive. Funeral services will begin at 10 am on Thursday February 28, 2013 from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family at the funeral home from 6 to 8 on Wednesday February 27, 2013. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
