Obituary of Marion G. Buchanan

Marion G. Buchanan passed away on December 13, 2017, 5 days short of her 108th birthday at Saratoga Hospital with Family at her side.  Marion was born on December 18, 1909 in Dedham, Massachusetts.  Her parents were Robert J. Buchanan and Marion C. Buchanan (Nee: McNamara).  Marion lived in the Boston area for many years working as a medical secretary for several doctors at the Mass General Hospital.

Marion was also in The Women Army Corp during WWII from 1943 to 1948 serving in Europe and Washington D.C. and attained the rank of Sargent.  Marion was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Dedham, Massachusetts and the Immaculate Conception Church in Glenville, New York.

Marion was predeceased by her brothers Clifton, Clifford and Robert Buchanan, and her sisters Verna, Dorothy Buchanan and Phyllis Riel. 

Marion is survived by her nieces and nephews, David Riel, Janet Koelbel, Robert J. Buchanan Jr., Patricia Dwan, Beverly Reese, Richard, Alayne and Paul Buchanan, Ronald Buchanan.  Marion is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road with Reverend Jerry Gingras officiating.  Relatives and friends are cordially invited and may also call on Monday, December 18th from 6-8 at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road in Glenville.

A graveside committal service will commence at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham, Massachusetts under the direction of the Glenville Funeral Home.
