Obituary of Marie Alena Miller


Marie Alena (Klavetter) Miller of 3 Pinewood Drive, Glenville NY passed away peacefully in her home early on Christmas morning of 2017 with her husband at her bedside. She had been in Hospice care for several weeks following a lengthy stay in Ellis Hospital and Ellis Rehabilitation Center.
Marie was born in Plainview, Minnesota, graduating from Plainview High School in 1959, and worked as a surgical technician at hospitals in Rochester, MN and Cincinnati, Ohio. She married Harold E. Miller in 1967, and they lived in Cincinnati and Greenville, SC before moving to Schenectady in 1976. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Schenectady for the past 14 years. During her life in Schenectady, she was a volunteer usher at Proctor’s Theatre for over 25 years, volunteered at the Glencliff school library, and was active in several quilt guilds: Q.U.I.L.T., Inc. of Delmar, NY, Q.U.I.L.T.S.  of Schenectady and the Quilt North guild of Saratoga County, NY. She enjoyed traveling in the US, Europe and Asia.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, sons Edward of Plainville, MA and Robert of Golden, CO; 3 grandchildren, Evan, Emma and Makenzie; 5 siblings, Catherine Klingerman, Robert Klavetter, Patricia Bergdorf and Joseph Klavetter of Minnesota and Nancy Otey of Centennial, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents, Meade R Klavetter and Doris (Hall) Klavetter, of Plainview, MN.
A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 29th at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph's Church Roman Catholic Church, State on LaFayette Street, Schenectady, with Rev. Dominic Isopo as celebrant. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.  Marie will be laid to rest in the family plot in Plainview, MN at a later date.  Online condolences may be expressed at GLENVILLEFUNERALHOME.COM
