Obituary of George Neal

George Neal, age 94, passed away on Thursday, August 23 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York. George was born in Ushers, New York on February 11, 1918 to Frank J. Neal and Emily Jones Neal. He was predeceased by 7 siblings, Frank H. Neal, Emily Evans, May Siska, Hazel Evans, Estelle Wood, Lucy Neal and William Neal. George graduated from Schenectady Vocational High School. He worked as a machinist for many years at GE, ALCO and CONDEC in Schenectady. He and his wife owned a wholesale butter, egg and cheese store in Schenectady during the 1970's. In later years he delivered bulk mail for the U.S. Post Office. George married Lillian Dewar on May7, 1941 and they shared 71 happy years together. George was also predeceased by his son Dean Neal. George is survived by his wife, Lillian; his children: Karen (Richard) Golden of Burnt Hills, New York and Bruce (Donna) Neal of Rotterdam; his daughter-in-law Pam Neal Berube of Round Lake, NY. He has four grandchildren, Corey (Deb) Golden of Burnt Hills, Neal (Sue) Golden of Charlton, Derek Neal of Rotterdam and Kelly (Chris) Tarr of Amherst, MA and one great granddaughter, Dana Golden of Charlton. George is also blessed to have seven "grandchildren and great grandchildren of the heart" to share his life - Justin (Kim) Berube of Clifton Park, Erica Berube of Saratoga, Carley (Mike) Kirk of Flint Michigan, Crystal Watkins of Clifton Park, Bryce Lee of Rotterdam Junction, Evan Pangiarella of Stillwater and Rylie Berube of Clifton Park. George is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. George was a member of the Ballston Spa Senior Citizens for many years. He was also an avid Yankees fan and a lover of all animals. George was known as a "jack of all trades". He could fix anything or improvise to solve the problem. Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, New York. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27 at10 AM at the Glenville Funeral Home followed by internment at Jonesville Cemetery, Jonesville, New York. Memorial contributions can be made to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, New York 12020.
