Obituary of Patricia E. Beede
Patricia E. Beede died on Monday, January 15, 2018 after a long illness. The daughter of Thomas and Marie O’Keefe, she was born December 23, 1929, in West View, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her brother Michael O’Keefe, and by Timothy O’Keefe, a nephew.
She was a graduate of the St. Athanasius School, West View High School and Chatham College.
She accepted employment in 1951 with the personnel department of the Atomic Products Division of General Electric in Hanford, Washington. She met her husband Ray Lincoln Beede there, at a night school sign-up session. They became attached, and were married in April, 1953 in Pittsburgh to start their shared 64-year adventure of love, companionship and support.
Pat loved get-togethers with family and old friends. She and husband Ray travelled widely to Europe, Egypt, Turkey, Taiwan and to Beijing and Shanghai. She loved gardening, reading and her many years of participation in several local bridge groups.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved sons Michael Scott Beede, MD (Maura) of Yardley, PA, and Christopher Beede (Emma) of Vienna, VA, along with the four grandchildren she loved and admired: Alison, Elizabeth, Benjamin (Captain, USMC) and Nicholas (former Captain, US Army), and one great grandchild, Emma Fay Beede-Duray.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, January 19, at the Glenville Funeral Home from 6 to 8 pm. All are welcomed to a Celebration of Life Mass at 9 am on Saturday, January 20. This will take place at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville with Rev. Jerry Gingras officiating.
The family deeply appreciates the care and concern given by Stephen Goldberg, MD, Muhammad Tai, MD, David Liebers, MD, and by the nurses of Unit C1 of Ellis Hospital.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, to Catholic Charities of the Albany Diocese, Church of the Immaculate Conception building fund, or to the Town of Ballston Community Library. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Glenville Funeral Home.
