Obituary of Robert J. Bikowicz

Robert J. Bikowicz, 80, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Niskayuna, he was the son of the late Victor and Sophie Bikowicz. Bob was a 1955 graduate of Draper High School and proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years. Following high school, Robert started an apprenticeship at General Electric and went on to become a Manufacturing Engineer; a position he retired from after a faithful career of 42 years. Robert married his beloved wife Eileen (née: Thomas) Bikowicz on May 6, 1961. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting and camping with his family. He also spent many hours working on the family farm. Robert enjoyed making toys for handicap children as well as doing daily jigsaw puzzles with his wife. Above all his greatest passion was his family, striving to do anything he could for his wife, children and grandchildren. He was know as “Mr. Fix It” and was always there to lend a helping hand. Robert was a longtime member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville.

Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brother Victor Bikowicz.

He is survived by his beloved wife Eileen Bikowicz, their children Kenneth (Brenda) Bikowicz, Terrence (Susan) Bikowicz, Douglas (Annmarie) Bikowicz and Patricia (Paul) Meyer. He is also survived by his 10 cherished grandchildren, his long-term foreign exchange son Cai (Marian) Christophel, his brother Richard (the late Marilyn) Bikowicz, Donald (Linda) Bikowicz, Dennis (Nancy) Bikowicz and many nieces and nephews.

 Calling hours for Robert will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 6, 2018 at 9am with Rev. Jerome Gingras officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
