Obituary of Helene M. Sikorski

Helene M. Sikorski, 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 4, 2018. Born and educated in Saratoga Springs she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Schermerhorn. Helene married her beloved husband Edwin Sikorski on November 23, 1947, together they shared 70 wonderful years together. She enjoyed cheering on the NY Yankees, and the NY Giants as well as watching NASCAR. She also enjoyed reading, especially James Patterson novels, knitting and camping at Fish Creek. Helene and her husband shared the winters together in Daytona Beach, Florida for over 30 years. She was a homemaker and her greatest joy in life was her family especially her children and grandchildren.  Helene was a longtime member of the Alplaus Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary.

Survivors in addition to her husband Edwin include her children Deborah (Carl) Kopp, Daniel Sikorski, Stephen Sikorski, Brian (Jacquie Simcak) Sikorski and Lisa (Michael) Center and her beloved grandchildren Jay (Trish) Ingersoll, Robb (Salina) Kopp, Elissa (Sarah) Center-Gray, Michael (Brittany) Center, Matthew (Mikaela Burke) Center, Erin Center, Christopher Sikorski, Victoria Sikorski and Taylor Sikorski. Additionally her great grandchildren Ashley Perrino, Justin Sikorski and Harper Kopp survive. She is also survived by her sisters Sandra Kilmer, Toni Lewis, Gail Gray-Habig and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Iris Merritt and June Baumgardner.

Calling hours for Helene will be held on Wednesday February 7, 2018 from 10am -12pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral services will follow at 12pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place after the service at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
