Obituary of Elsie K. Novotny


Elsie K. Novotny (nee: Knight), 94, passed away at home February 10, 2018, with her loving family at her side.


Born in Stockbridge, Vermont on July 6, 1923, the daughter of the late John and Amanda Baldwin Knight, she married Henry Novotny in June 1953 in Pittsfield Vermont and lived in Glenville since 1963.  It was this same year she joined Burnt Hills Methodist Church where she was active many years.
 

Elsie was a member of Thursday Circle, Young Mother’s Group and assisted at Rotary dinners through her church. She was also involved in Home Bureau and a member of two bowling leagues. Elsie enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time with family and friends. 

She was predeceased by her husband Henry and sister, Evelyn Cron.

Survivors include her children; daughters  Diane (James) Stahl of Glenville,  Marilyn (Ronald) Garrow, Rutland, VT,  Elaine (Larry) Lincoln of Ira, VT and son Daniel (Laurie) Novotny, Stockbridge, VT. Grandchildren: Kimberly (Ethan) Crofut, Caitlin, Jennifer and Christina Stahl, Heather, Joseph and Melissa Garrow, Justin and Amy Lincoln and Corey (Megan) Novotny, Casey and Danielle Novotny. Elsie was blessed with great grandchildren, Riley and Brinley Novotny and cherished nephew John Cron and Niece Amanda (Cron) McVey and great nieces and nephews. 


Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 PM at Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, 816 Saratoga Rd. with Rev. Holly Nye officiating. Calling at the church will precede the service from 11-12 PM.
Burial in the spring will be in Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Pittsfield, Vermont under the direction of Glenville Funeral Home (Glenvillefuneralhome.com).
