Obituary of Rose Petrozola
Rose Petrozola, 93, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2018 at Ellis Hospital. Born on the SS Colombo ship coming to New Jersey from Bari, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Antonietta Sterlacci.
Raised and educated in Jersey City, NJ she attended Dickinson High School. Rose married her beloved husband Dominick Petrozola on April 25, 1954 at St. Joseph’s Church in Jersey City. Being a homemaker and mother to her sons was her life’s passion.
After raising her sons, Rose began her career of 20 years at St. Joseph’s Home for the Blind in Jersey City as a Recreational Therapist; retiring in 1993. Rose’s beloved husband Dominick passed away on December 27, 1990. She moved to Glenville in 1993 and became an active and faithful member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. She served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and often brought communion to the residents of Ellis Hospital and Baptist Heath.
Rose enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as well as crafting; you could find her at both the Saratoga County and Altamont Fairs exhibiting her creative work.
Rose is survived by her beloved sons Michael and Joseph (Kari)Petrozola Sr., as well as her grandchildren Mary Rose and Joseph Jr.
Calling hours will be held today, February 14, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road Glenville. A Celebration of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 15, 2018 at 11am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road, Glenville. Entombment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
