Obituary of Pasquale Gabriele

PASQUALE  (PAT) GABRIELE

Pat Gabriele, a remarkable husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2018, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

He was born on April 2, 1928 to Angelo and Gaetana Gabriele in Castelliri, Italy, and moved as a child with his parents to Fair Haven, Vermont.  Several years later they made their home in Schenectady.

Pasquale was educated in the Schenectady School System and  enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1945, serving aboard the USS Renate as Seaman Second Class.  He proudly and faithfully served his country in the South Pacific and Japan and was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.  He was honorably discharged in 1946.  Upon his discharge, he was employed by the American Locomotive Company and later, he left his employ there because of his desire to become a General Contractor, building homes in the tri-cities area.

He married his beloved wife, Ann, on June 10, 1951 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, in Schenectady (now closed).  They were married for over 66 beautiful, happy and memorable years.

Pat was a loyal  fan of the New York Yankees since he was a child, and attended many of those baseball games, and later enjoyed these same events with his sons at every opportunity.  He was a great supporter of Bellevue Little League and and never missed his sons' baseball games during the years they both played in Little League, always there to support them and cheering them on.

Pat loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.  Because he was a true sportsman, he always respected all wildlife, their habitat and the   environment.

A great companion and advisor to his dear children, it was always his goal to instill a code of value, trust, integrity and wisdom in each of them, and he did just that, which made him very proud of each of them and their accomplishments. His priority was loving and caring for his family. He gave of himself, not only to his family, but to others as well, without hesitation, and never expecting anything in return.  He most assuredly was his family's tower of strength.  Pat will be truly missed by all who knew him, particularly for his goodness, kindness and wonderful sense of humor.

Predeceased are his parents, Angelo and Gaetana Gabriele and sisters Marietta, Erminia, and brothers, Guido and Loreto.

Survivors are his dear wife Antoinette (Ann), his loving and devoted children, Michael Gabriele and his wife, Mary of Rotterdam;  AveMaria Angerami and her husband, Ralph of Niskayuna; and Vincent Gabriele and his wife, Madeleine of Leesburg, VA.

Most cherished and adored grandchildren are Jordan Gabriele, Michaela Gabriele, Alexa Angerami, and Cole Gabriele, and he was so proud of each and every one of them, all of whom made him a very special "papa" and "pops."  Pat is also survived by his niece and nephew, Olivia and Kenneth Grant of Scotia.  Many other nieces and nephews of Leamington, Ont., Canada, also survive.

If desired memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P. O. Box 2151, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101-2151.

The family will receive friends and relatives on February 23, 2018 at 9:00am at St John the Evangelist followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am.

Burial will take place at Gerald  B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
