Obituary of James D. Brougham

James D. Brougham, 89, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late John and Elsa Brougham. Jim was a 1947 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. He married his beloved late wife Margaret “Peg” Brougham on February 26, 1950 at the Albany Street United Methodist Church in Schenectady. While in high school, he worked at Greens Dairy, where he met his wife. Following high school, Jim started working for General Electric, graduating from the Apprentice Course, working the shop and retiring after 40 faithful years as a Supervisor in Steam Turbine. James was a member of the G.E. Apprentice Alumni as well as the G.E. Quarter Century Club. He volunteered at Proctors Theater as an usher and "White Hat" for 25 years and was a driver for the Jonesville Food Pantry for many years. Jim and his wife Peg were longtime faithful members of the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church in Clifton Park since 1974. Above all, Jim will be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially his granddaughters who affectionately called him Papa. The family would like to thank the entire family and friends for all the love and support shown to them during these hard times.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife Margaret “Peg” Brougham in 2002 and his beloved son David M. Brougham in 1972.  He also was predeceased by his sisters and brother: Joyce (infant), Marion DesBois, Dorothy (Edward) Williams, Marjorie (Rudy) Aernecke and Robert (Kathy) Brougham, as well as his sister in law Jean Clemens and brother in law Joseph Ambrozik.

Jim is survived by his beloved daughters Diane DeLemo of Rexford and Kathleen Goodwin of Mulberry, FL. He is the cherished Papa of Rachel (Preston) Couch (San Antonio,TX) and Leah Goodwin(Rexford). He is also survived by sisters Carole (John) Davis of New Cumberland, PA and Jacquelyne Ambrozik of San Jose, CA. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews also survive.  

Calling hours for Jim will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 10am at the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 971 NY-146, Clifton Park, NY. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Jonesville United Methodist Church: Helping Hands Food Pantry, 963 Main Street Clifton Park, New York 12065, Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 971 NY-146, Clifton Park, NY 12065 or to a charity of one’s choice.
