Obituary of Willis A. Goodale

Willis A. Goodale, 88, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2018 at his daughter’s home. Born in Addison, Vermont, he was the son of the late Willis and Lillian Goodale. Willis was raised in Holyoke, Massachusetts and proudly defended his country in the Navy for 20 years. Willis married his beloved wife Justyne (Zima) Goodale and were married for 61 years before her passing in 2014. Willis and his wife lived in Rotterdam for over 40 years before he moved to Glenville in 2015 following his wife’s passing. He retired after many faithful years from Amtrak as an Electrical Engineer.  Willis enjoyed tinkering with watches and clocks. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Soxs. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Willis was predeceased by his children David Goodale and Dyanne Goodale and a brother William “Patrick” Goodale.

He is survived by his children Daniel (Caitlin) Goodale, Deborah Truchon, Deloris (Lawrence) Kubes, Desiree (Charles) Goodale and Donna Ferguson. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren,his daughter in law Janet and several nieces and nephews.

A calling hour for Willis will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 10am to 11am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.

Memorial contributions in Willis’s name may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue, Scotia, New York 12302.
