Thomas Jordan

Obituary of Thomas Vincent Jordan

Thomas Vincent Jordan was given the gift of life on December 7th, 1930 and returned that gift on March 22nd, 2018. Tom was born to Thomas J. and Margaret Jordan (Harrison) in New York City. Tom lost his Dad at a very young age and his then single Mom worked hard to raise her children. Tom’s strong work ethic was created early in life out of his need to financially help his family.

Tom considered a calling in the priesthood as a young adult, but when he met the love of his life that all changed. After proudly serving his country in the Korean War, Tom came home to marry his love and now wife of 64 years, Jeanette (Commesso).

Tom and Jeanette didn’t waste any time starting their family. Tom’s career in the paint industry brought his ever-growing family from New York City to Massachusetts and ultimately to East Glenville, New York, where he resided most of his life. Tom was a hard worker and did whatever he needed to do to ensure his family was well cared for. Tom had a long and distinguished career in the retail industry and was respected by all that he worked for and with. Throughout his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, especially to their special place, Cancun, Mexico.

Tom was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great grandfather. He was a man of integrity and his word was his bond. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Tom was predeceased by his parents; sister, Marie, and his brothers, Jack, Vincent and Donald.

In addition to his wife, Jeanette, Tom is survived by his five children, Thomas (Angela), John (Cynthia), Gerard, Patricia (Peter Prosper), and Joannie Madelone (Curtis August); his ten grandchildren, Justin, Lindsay, Jeremy, Alexis, Anthony, Olivia, Carly, Emily, Matthew, and Sophia; one great grandson, Chase, and one great grandson on the way.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM on Monday, March 26th, at the Church of Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

The family would like to thank all of Tom’s care providers including Eddy Senior Care, Ellis Hospital Cardiac Unit, The Community Hospice and especially Schenectady Glendale Home whose staff treated Tom as family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to The Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144. Online condolences may be made at glenvillefuneralhome.com
