Obituary of George Beers

George N. Beers, 88, died peacefully at home, March 18, 2013. Born in Pearl River, NY he was the son of the late Charles and Thelma Jersey Beers. He graduated from Scotia High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-46. George was the recipient of the Presidential Citation Medal. George was a self employed unionized carpenter for many years prior to his retirement. He is the husband of Edna M. (La Fountain) Beers, who survives him in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Survived by his children: sons George C. Beers and William Beers (Sandy); a daughter, June Farrell (Jim). George's step children: Sheila Londerno (Terry), Arthur Armer (Joyce), Dennis Armer (Melissa), Scott Armer (Robyn), Stan Armer (Debbie) and the late Terrill Moreau. He leaves several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services Friday, March 22 at 11 AM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Glenville. A calling hour will precede the service from 10-11. Interment will full military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery at 1 PM.
