Obituary of Carol E. Burroughs

Carol E. Burroughs, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Seton Health at Schuyler Ridge with her family at her side. 

Born and raised in Johnstown, NY she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice (Simmons) Nou. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School. On November 24, 1956 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Burroughs.

She moved from Hagaman, NY to Glenville in 1965.  During the 60’s, Carol was active with Centre Glenville United Methodist Church.  She worked for the Lawrence Group in Schenectady for ten years, retiring as an accounting clerk.

She enjoyed vacationing with her family, boating on Sacandaga Lake and attending family gatherings. She loved being around children.  Carol is fondly remembered as never missing and event or activity for both her children and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Burroughs, in 2015 and her brothers, John and Harold Nou.

Carol leaves behind her beloved children: Stephen (Gina) Burroughs, Carla (Lawrence) Hastings and Mary (Gerald) D'Amelia; sister Joan (Kenneth) Bruce and sister-in-law Bonnie Nou;  cherished grandchiildren:  David Pogue, Andrew and Jessica D’Amelia, Nicholas Grover, Mitchell and Haleigh Burroughs    Several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, on Sunday, April 29th from 4 to 6 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 12 PM on Monday, April 30th, at Glenville Funeral Home; immediately followed by internment at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY at 2 PM. Donations can be made to St. Peter’s hospital, 315 S.
