Obituary of Joan E. Weaver
Joan E. Weaver, 86, formerly of Vines Rd. and most recently Judson Meadows, passed away on April 28, 2018 at Ellis Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born on November 1, 1931 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Every.
Joan worked as a Library Clerk in the city then became clerk for KAPL’s Technical Library. There she met her husband who took her out on a “Permanent Loan”. She became the bride of Wesley J. Weaver Jr. on November 16, 1957 at St. Luke’s RC Church in Schenectady. The couple lived in Schenectady until they moved to Charlton in 1959. Involved in her children’s activities, Joan was den mother for her son’s cub scout troop.
Joan was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church and the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed traveling with the G.E.’s
woman’s club. As an avid reader, she was preferable to romance novels. Joan regularly challenged the subjects and clues on television’s Jeopardy.
Her husband Wes died in September/2009. Joan retired in 2010 from the Town of Ballston Community Library.
Survivors include her sons Scott A. Weaver (Laura) of Charlton, Douglas B. Weaver (Mary Jo) of Clinton, NY, Wesley J. Weaver III (Angeles)of Cortland, NY and Mary E. Frewin (Eric) of Scotia; her grandchildren Emily and Jonathan Weaver, Ashley Weaver, Danielle Lewis (Michael), Alicia Davy (Cano); Wes and Lara Weaver, and Christopher and Adam Frewin. Joan leaves a
brother, Richard Every (Jeri) and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday (May 4) from 6-8 PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. Scotia-Glenville, NY.
All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (May 5th) at 9:00 AM from St. Luke’s Church 1241 State St. Schenectady with Rev. Dominic Isopo officiating. Interment to follow at Memory’s Garden in Colonie. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd.
