Obituary of Josephine Massaroni
Josephine Raphaela Massaroni (Saraco), passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord March 19, 2013 in the loving presence of her family. Born in Schenectady on July 19, 1931, Josephine was a the daughter of the late James and Nancy Niceforo Saraco.
A graduate of Mont Pleasant High School, she was employed as a secretary for KAPL in Niskayuna. She married Italo Massaroni on August 28, 1955 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She retired from KAPL in 1956 when she began a family with Al. Josephine was a devoted homemaker. Her beloved husband, children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was an amazing cook and filled the hearts of her family every Sunday with home cooked meals.
Affecti-onately known by her grand-children as Mammie, she received from them so much in return for her love. Josephine was a continuous support to her husband's business endeavors over the years and was proud of his accomplishments. In her own humble way she was the matriarch and nurturer of her family.
She was predeceased by her son, Gary Italo Massaroni, in 1989 and by her sister, Rosemary Saraco in 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Italo "Al" Massaroni; her children, Lynn M. Chrys of Niskayuna, David A. (Maria) Massaroni of Niskayuna, JoAnn M. (Jeffrey) Tricozzi of Rexford and Paul J. Massaroni of Clifton Park; her beloved sisters, Nicolina Bataglia and Nancy (Gerald) Barry, of Rotterdam; grandchildren in order, Joseph, Talia and Gary Chrys, David Massaroni Jr., Nicholas, Anthony, Daniela and Cristina Massaroni; Kaitlin, Krista and Vincent Tricozzi Gabrielle, Christian and Andrew Massaroni. Josephine is survived also by her in-laws, Anita Coratti of Italy, Santina Pede of Rotterdam and Americo Massaroni of Niskayuna. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union St., Schenectady. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There will be no prior calling hours. Entombment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum following the mass.
