Obituary of Eileen M. Bikowicz
Eileen M. Bikowicz, 79, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2018 at the Glendale Home. Born in Queens, NY she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Thomas. Eileen was a 1956 graduate of St. Agnes Academic High School and went on to continue her education at College Misericordia, majoring in mathematics and minoring in physics and chemistry. Eileen married her beloved late husband Robert on May 6, 1961. She worked at General Electric as a programmer until becoming a homemaker to raise her family. Her family was by far her greatest enjoyment, being very active in her children’s school activities and being part of the PTA at Burnt Hills. She was involved with her son’s boy scouts troops acting as Den Leader. Eileen was her children’s biggest supporter and fan; she never missed a sporting event and later she made sure to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and performances. Eileen was the center of the home, making sure her family gathered for dinner every night as her children were growing up. After raising her family, she went to work for H&R Block as a tax consultant and later as an office manager. Eileen was a long-time member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville and taught catechism for 21 years. She also enjoyed singing, playing the piano, gardening, knitting, crocheting and tole painting. Eileen’s paintings were also displayed at several local craft fairs and shops.
She is survived by her cherished children Kenneth (Brenda) Bikowicz, Terrence (Susan) Bikowicz, Douglas (Annmarie) Bikowicz and Patricia (Paul) Meyer. She is also survived by her 10 adored grandchildren, long-term foreign exchange son Cai (Marion) Christophel, brother Lawrence (Mary) Thomas and many nieces and nephews. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Robert on January 31, 2018. She also was predeceased by her brother Charles (surviving Regina) Thomas.
Calling hours for Eileen will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 9am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville, with Rev. Jerome Gingras officiating. Burial will take place at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
